Pocket Pals Privacy Policy

App: Pocket Pals
Developer: Happy Dead Designs LLC
Android package: com.happydead.aipets
Pocket Pals is an AI pet that lives on your phone: a little robot or a plush pet you can chat with, that reminds
you about things, plays music and sleep sounds, and translates. The short version: the AI, your chats and
your voice stay on your phone. We collect nothing. Two optional features use the internet, explained below.
Data collection
- We do not collect, store on a server, sell or share any of your information. There is no account, no sign-in,
no ads (ever), no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
- The pet's brain is a small AI model (Qwen2.5) that runs on the phone itself. What you type or
say to it is never sent anywhere.
What stays on your phone
- Your chats, what the pet remembers about you (for example your first name or birthday, only if you tell it), your
to-do list and reminders, the pet's looks and settings, and any "Report this reply" notes.
- All of it is kept in the app's private storage. Android backup is turned off for this app, so it is not copied to
any cloud. Settings has buttons to erase the pet's memory, the chat history and saved reports; uninstalling the app
erases everything.
Microphone and voice
- The microphone is used only while you tap a mic button. Your words are turned into text inside the
app by its own built-in offline speech recognizer (Vosk), or, for other languages in the translator, by
your phone's on-device recognizer. Audio is never recorded, saved or sent.
- The pet speaks with your phone's own text-to-speech voices, offline voices only.
Optional features that use the internet
- Weather (off until you turn it on): the town you type is looked up in a table inside the app.
Only rough map coordinates (about 10 km) are sent to the US National Weather Service (weather.gov) to get the
forecast. Nothing else is sent, and we never receive it.
- Extra translator languages: tapping Download fetches the language file from Mozilla (the makers
of Firefox). Nothing you type or say is sent; translation happens on the phone.
- The bigger brain (optional): the app comes with a light brain. If you choose the bigger one, the
model file is downloaded once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), the site that hosts the official Qwen model files.
Like any download, that site sees your internet address; nothing about you or your chats is sent.
Reminders and notifications
Reminders are set with your phone's own alarm system and shown as notifications. They never leave the phone.
Reports
"Report this reply" hides the reply and saves a note on your phone. If you choose to share it, it goes only where you
send it (for example your own email app).
Purchases
Pocket Pals is a paid download (the price is set in Google Play). There are no in-app purchases and no subscription.
Google Play handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details.
Age
Pocket Pals is for ages 13 and up and is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information
from anyone. (For younger children we make Rexy's Dino World, which has no internet at all.)
