Star Finder Privacy Policy

Last updated October 16, 2026

App: Star Finder: Night Sky Map
Developer: Happy Dead Designs LLC
Android package: com.happydead.skyguide

Star Finder shows the stars, planets and constellations above you, as a sky map or drawn over your camera picture. This policy explains what the app does with your information. The short version: nothing is collected, and nothing leaves your phone.

Data collection

We do not collect, store on a server, sell or share any of your information.

• The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere.
• There is no account and no sign-in.
• There are no ads (ever), no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect data.

Location

• The app asks for approximate (rough) location only, never precise location. A kilometre or two is plenty to draw the sky.
• The position is read from your phone's own location service, used on the phone to work out the sky, and remembered (rounded) in the app's private settings on this phone only.
• Location is optional: you can say no, turn it off in the app, or pick a city from the app's built-in list instead.

Camera

• The camera is used only for the live camera view, with the sky drawn on top.
• The picture is shown on screen and nothing else: the app does not take, save or send photos or video.

What stays on your phone

Your settings (night mode, text size, what to show on the map, the city you picked, your rounded last position) are kept in the app's private storage. They are not included in cloud backups or phone-to-phone transfers, and they are removed when you uninstall the app. The compass and motion sensors are read on the phone to point the map and are never stored.

Links

A link to NASA's "Spot the Station" website opens in your web browser if you tap it. What that website collects is covered by its own privacy policy.

Purchases

Star Finder is a paid download (the price is set in Google Play). There are no in-app purchases and no subscription. Google Play handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and it collects no personal information from anyone.

Changes

Any changes to this policy will be posted on this page with a new date.
